Astro’s are in my possession!!!

Well after 2.5 weeks I have finally received my Astro A40 white headset. I was like a little kid in a candy store. My first impression when unboxing was holy sh*t the packing and boxes are incredible.
As I started opening boxes it was apperent they spent a lot of time on the design from beginning to end. It seems nothing has been overlooked.
The mixamp comes with all the cables to make it functional out of the box but does not include a toslink optical or digital coax cable to support the 5.1 Dolby digital however I was well aware of this as its stated on the product page and in multiple threads on the forum. I have an optical cable already so I was prepared.
Setup and connections are super easy to figure out and took like 5 minutes to get all connected and ready to play. There are 3 cables necessary to be used to play on the xbox and have voice chat. The optical cable that connects Xbox to mixamp, then the cable that goes from mixamp to headset and then the cable that goes from mixamp to controller for voice.
A few other nice features of the setup is that i can connect an mp3 player directly to the mixamp and play music while gaming. I dont usually do this while im playing COD or games where really hearing your surroundings is crucial but in Forza or just playing some campaigns i like to add my own soundtrack. The mixamp also includes the cable necessary to hook up the mp3 player.
I dont have much more to share right now however i am going to be borrowing a friends set of x41′s and ill be doing a comparative review on the differences and which one i feel is a better investment. I will say this that if you have the money to spend the build quality, sound quality and the expandability is definitely worth the investment. Ill leave you with a picture of my setup right now.

It has irony galore, and some really retarded things and ideas, but it really does brighten up my dull architecture class.

Astro’s Now a part of our clan

Phil (BOM VDubmeister) has received his astro’s and i just ordered mine today. They will be shipping out on monday once the new shipment of mixamps are in. Im just pumped for the ability to hear whats going on around me and play some call of duty again. So now we are rocking astro’s, turtle beaces and tritons among us with all different models in those brands. Its crazy to look at where gaming has come even from the original xbox.

… I can’t help but getting a little choked up hearing dude so far away. You can almost hear your voice bounce off the satellite.
Anyways, he’s doing good… but bored out of his mind. He sounded really depressed, but by the end of the conversation I had him laughing. He asked how everyone is doing and I told him about Shon. He couldn’t believe it. I told him we were all the same way.
I also told him that I had started making a care package for him and it was sitting there half full but I had run out of money/work and couldn’t get the things I really wanted to send him, and he said it’s okay… it probably wouldn’t make it to him by the time he got to come home. (Which is just a little over 2 months now)
I told him we missed him and hope he comes back soon.

This is the book that I have quoted in our Laws. Since the book is pretty much free-license, I’ve added it to our website. I recommend reading it, if not just picking through it… it -will- expand your inner warrior. Initially the book is in plain text, but I will eventually put chapter links and dress it up to make it easier on the eyes.

MW:2 Stimulus Package 3-30

Activision announced today during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco that “the Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Stimulus Package will strike worldwide on March 30.”
The name Stimulus Package is a potentially confusing tie-in to President Obama’s economic plan. Sorry, you can’t get paid to play Modern Warfare yet.
But the downloadable content package for Xbox consoles includes the first new multiplayer maps — that means there’s all-new terrain on which you can fight with or against other human players — for what has been called the biggest entertainment launch in history, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2 has been a huge hit for gamers, but a black eye for the gaming industry. A lawsuit filed by Infinity Ward’s founders against parent company Activision Blizzard exposed a personal and professional rift within Activision’s hotshot unit.
Leaked photos and video of the Stimulus Package were posted to the Net in recent weeks, but Activision has done a good job of taking them down.

Cleaning Out The Roster

We got a lot of new members with the coming of MW2… and a few old members just disappeared. Doc is in Iraq… more than halfway done with his stint. Hunter logged on once in the past month or so just to log right back off. Yarlb/Sefir never play with us, most of the time they are co-op’ing on one Xbox.
Shon4Star is AWOL. The whole ordeal has been the strangest event that I’ve ever dealt with online. Shon disappeared for a week or so (which is most strange because he was one that was online every day…) then a couple of weeks later, his gamer tag comes online. Turns out it’s not Shon, it’s some guy that’s “bought Shon’s account, and Shon is going back into the Army.” We all know this isn’t true because Shon told us he was injured and taken out… that’s besides the point. Turns out he sold all of his XBOX stuff, headset, games, the console, modded controllers… everything, as separate packs on eBay. Didn’t even give his loyal friends a shot at any of it, OR EVEN SAY BYE. He now owns a PS3, apparently, gone to the dark side. Sucks to lose a good friend to random bullshit. We’ve even called/written him in futility. Makes no sense. Can you tell I’m agitated about it? Well now that that’s been aired out….
FixedJoker, aka “Hardquarters” Chris has been missing for a while too. His gamer tag gets on from time to time but it’s never him. The last time I invited it a couple of weeks ago, I was told by the user “I haven’t seen Chris in 2 weeks” and he didn’t want to answer any questions. Kinda worries me, he’s a bit of a wild one… hope he’s alright.
FrankieDigital busted ass to get into the clan. He no longer plays hardcore playlists and acts like we don’t exist.
Thunder/Lightning came into the group shortly before Shon left, and haven’t been around much since. In the same boat is StaticCloudX, who hasn’t really been online either.
I’ll be cleaning out the roster over the next week or so. If you were mentioned on this list [negatively] and you feel it was uncalled for or unjust, let me know. Otherwise you’ll probably be dropped soon due to inactivity.
